A significant source of funding for the New Zoo project was to be provided by a bond that was to be issued by the City of San Francisco. Voters approved the bond measure in the 1996 election by a wide margin. Unfortunately, the Zoo bond measure shared the ballot with the contraversial 49er's Stadium Bond. The Stadium Bond measure was confronted by a variety of legal challenges. Thsi had the effect of putting the Zoo Bond on hold until the legal challenges were resolved. |
