Exam Room
Round tables were used in the consultation room for the doctor, patient and a family member to talk. The staff put a lot of emphasis on the room not appearing too white.

"Patient exam rooms throughout the facility have wood floors and carpeted hallways. The desktops in each room are equipped with tape recorders that can be used to record conversations between patients and doctors - this helps reduce a patient's concern about remembering the details of a potentially difficult conversation." [Byron Bronston, Facilities Design and Management, March 2002]

"The staff led by Dr. Laura Esserman strives to create a comfortable, inviting, non-threatening environment … and the new space should certainly achieve this goal. Actually, the clients' expectations are that the new space will enhance the qualities of the present space and will extend the warm, 'living room' feeling of the waiting area to the other patient areas of the new facility: exam rooms, consultation rooms, and corridors."
