Architecture 229: Building Stories

Small Giant

The small-scale nature of these buildings is evident in the Cancer Center’s form. At the sidewalks, the building is only 3 stories tall, and then steps away from the street front and up to a 6-story building in order to accommodate the entire program. This small gesture of appropriate massing and scale goes a long way in knitting the building into the existing neighborhood.
