CONCLUSION

Retaining control of the building process enabled the owner to direct and coordinate work towards realizing their healthcare strategy rather than the bottom line.  This has significant import to the quality of the building as seen in the  transition between construction documents and final spaces.  As illustrated by the second floor lobby above, it takes both personal touches and personal investment to produce a "healing environment".

The finished project was successful in realizing the healthcare strategies defined at the outset: a warm, peaceful "healing environment" in which patients are provided with the privacy and respect they need to recover.
