A new front entrance to the main hospital building directly was designed as part of the adjacent Outpatient Cancer Center.

The new entrance creates a presence on the street to tie together the separate UCSF hospital buildings to make the Mt. Zion Comprehensive Cancer Center. 

Arching glass canopies form the new front entrance, held up by architecturally exposed structural steel pipe with pre-tensioned stainless steel rod bracing limit deflection and resist lateral loads.
