Structural Collaboration between Smith Group Architects/Degenkolb Engineers

The award winning design of the structural system for the UCSF Mt. Zion Outpatient Cancer Center was derived through a rigorous collaboration between the architects and medical planners, Smith Group Architects; and the structural engineers, Degenkolb Engineers.

The Engineering Awards of Excellence is presented annually by the AISC, American Institute of Steel Construction, in recognition of engineering excellence and innovation in steel-framed buildings. It is based on creativity in response to owners/architects program requirements; the application of new or innovative technology in connections, gravity systems, lateral load resisting systems; and structural efficiency and significance of engineering achievement.
