Mount Zion UCSF Outpatient Cancer Center
Architecture 229: Building Stories

In the early 1990’s there was a plan to build an in-patient cancer surgical center. However, the building code requirements for an in-patient center are much more stringent and costly. By the mid 90’s, Mt. Zion changed their game plan and decided to build an out-patient center, something needed and that their budget could support.  Around the start of this project, their affiliation with Stanford came to an end.  The site work began for the Cancer Center in August of 1997 and the building opened in May of 2000.
